When designing a project like a comic or a video the design process is vital. This is where the broad ideas are narrowed down into the final polished product.  A design process can start from anywhere with the ability to change and tweak the ideas at all points as nothing is final and concrete in the design phase. One of the most important phases of the design phase is feedback from peers and personal reflection. From these you are able to see different perspectives from your own. This gets rid of bias reduction, gives a fresh perspective and gives good room for improvement as the first drafts will never be perfect. When writing the comic I feel as if I could’ve spent more time in the original design part of the project where I feel I should have gone into more detail before I went into the reflection and design, especially when I was designing the narration of the comic. For challenge B I am planning to spend more time designing and getting my ideas narrowed down so I’m able to reflect what I want to teach all within one minute. I also know we get peer feedback from our classmates but this time I want to use more resources around me like my family and friends to gain more constructive criticism to improve my work.
The design process for challenge B was structured around the ADDIE model where we analyzed →Design  → develop  →Implement  → evaluate. However during each stage we stopped to reflect.  During the analyzing phase we looked at the problem and we knew, from that we just began brainstorming by putting ideas on the board and trying to find the best connections. Once we found a few ideas we began designing a few ideas and looked at how we could possibly implement each one while following multi media principles to effectively teach our product. Another way of seeing this is that we began big then narrowed down the ideas, divergent to convergent thinking. This was used to not limit ourselves to one idea that may not be the best one. We wanted to explore different ideas and explore different ways to implement them. The process was the opposite of rigid at all stages. We constantly felt the need to change to try to perfect the project and after the peer reviews there will be more change. However in each small idea there seems most often to be one part that is a good idea that we can connect with another small idea that continues to build to complete the final project. Backwards design was also used as part of our designing process as we knew we wanted to do something that we were both interested in which led to soccer and video games then we worked backwards to connect it to the learning objectives and figure out how we could add multi media design principles like the personalization principle and reducing exogenous cognitive load. Through this process we have discover what we think will work best and will test out our design then reflect and refine it. Through our prototype we have been able to put together a frim idea that has many details from each iteration of the idea. If I had the opportunity to make 5 widely different versions of the learning activity I would be able to try out very drastic ides and use the divergent thinking to try out different concepts and analyze and reflect to determine what I think works best. I feel as this would lead to a better product because with more time and a larger scope there are more ideas and opportunities available.
