substantive post challenge C pt 2

Accessibility for learning is a very important concept that is often overlooked. Being good at learning includes having multiple perspectives and being able to balance them while picking the best characteristics from each side. This flows along into accessibility for learning in multi media principles as the more people that can be reached by a concept the the more effective it is and gives the learner more pathways to learn and gain information. I enjoy the quote from Holmes (2019) “Exclusion happens when we solve problems using our own biases. Seek out exclusions as opportunities to create new ideas and inclusive designs.” Removing our biases and being open minded is one of the most important aspects of being a learner and being able to effectively spread knowledge. I think accessibility in learning is to create environments where diverse learners can meaningfully engage and succeed. When designing a learning platform the process should include considering those that are least helped by the standard design. Inclusive thinking from the beginning of the work flow is important. An aspect of interactive learning environments is learner control and accessibility to increase representation  to provide learners different ways to learn and use dual coding. Accessible muti media design is also linked to reducing extraneous cognitive load by giving learners more options to engage with the environment and spend more time learning than trying to figure out the best way to use the interface that fits their needs.  I find UDL very interesting because it is a obvious but not commonly known idea, I enjoyed reading this small article by Canada government that expanded on the idea and gave more ideas on how to apply it to my work.https://a11y.canada.ca/en/universal-design-for-learning-udl/
